Update: We are postponing the auditions scheduled for August 8 and 11. Atlanta Master Chorale is still accepting new singers into the group for next season, but we are currently awaiting further information from Emory/Schwartz center regarding rehearsing and performing.  Please email us at if you would like to audition, and will be in touch as soon as we can determine that in-person rehearsals may begin again.

If you are passionate about choral music and looking for a challenging, satisfying choral experience, we would love to hear from you!

Atlanta Master Chorale presents a four-concert season with multiple performances of each concert. The performance dates for 2020-2021 are: October 16 & 17, December 11, 12, & 13, March 12 & 13, and April 30 & May 1 (all at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts).  If there is a conflict with one or more of these dates, we would still encourage you to audition.

Rehearsals begin on August 18 and are held every Tuesday evening from 7:30 pm –10 pm through early May (with breaks over Christmas and the New Year). AMC rehearses at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts at Emory University.

Auditions for the 2020-2021 season will be held on Saturday morning and afternoon, August 8, and Tuesday evening, August 11.

Prospective choir members need not be professional musicians, but singers should possess an excellent choral “skill-set,” including:

  • good music-reading skills

  • nuanced phrasing

  • precise intonation.

Atlanta Master Chorale sings with a warm, tension-free tone, often without vibrato. Though our members come from different walks of life and have a wide variety of vocations, many are highly experienced singers and may be featured as soloists within the group.

Prospective members are encouraged to listen to excerpts of Atlanta Master Chorale in performance, which may be found at our YouTube channel HERE.

At your audition, you will be asked to vocalize and to sight-read a portion of a choral work. The sight-reading will be a cappella.

Additionally, we ask that you prepare EACH of the following in advance to sing at your audition. An accompanist will be provided.

  1. One classical solo piece of your choosing (oratorio, aria, or art song preferred) that demonstrates your best vocal qualities.
A few possibilities are provided as follows:
