MEET OUR ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Dr. Eric Nelson has served as artistic director of the Atlanta Master Chorale since 1999. He brings extensive training in voice and choral conducting from Houghton College, Westminster Choir College and Indiana University along with experience conducting choirs and clinics around the world. Dr. Nelson constantly finds effective ways to help celebrate the gift of singing – as he says – “shoulder to shoulder, voice to voice, one voice lost in another, each agreeing upon something beyond themselves.” Dr. Nelson is currently Director of Choral Studies at Emory University, where he is a recent recipient of the distinguished Arts and Humanities Crystal Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching.
MEET OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Executive Director, Jim Verrecchia, brings with him a wealth of experience in executive leadership for non-profit organizations, as well as a background in the fields of music, ministry, and education. He has served as the Director of Support Programs, Director of Operations, and later as the Director of Development for Society of St. Vincent de Paul Georgia as well as executive administrative roles for Church congregations. Jim has also worked as the Grant Manager for both the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Georgia and Lutheran Services of Georgia. Jim is thrilled to be serving the chorus and organization and utilizing his talents and skills. He hopes to steer Atlanta Master Chorale to even greater heights as a nationally-recognized choral ensemble.
MEET OUR ACCOMPANIST
Jonathan Easter is a graduate of Emory University, where he studied with Timothy Albrecht and Dr. Eric Nelson and earned a double master’s degree. Easter now serves as the Director of Fine Arts and Organist at Saint Mark United Methodist Church in midtown Atlanta. In addition to his responsibilities at Saint Mark, Easter also works throughout the Emory music community accompanying the Emory University Chorus and Concert Choir. Easter earned his undergraduate degree from Shorter College where he studied with Dr. Peter Dewitt, Helen Ramsaur, and sang with the Shorter Chorale under the direction of Dr. Martha Shaw.
MEET OUR ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER
Amy joined the Atlanta Master Chorale staff in 2020, and she has been working with non-profit organizations and associations for more than 15 years. Before her position with Atlanta Master Chorale, she served as Chief of Staff/Associate Executive Director with the Georgia Dental Association (2016-2020). Prior to that, Amy was working with an association management company that managed multiple client associations/non-profits (2006-2016). Amy received her Bachelors of Music from Indiana University South Bend with a major in vocal performance. She has been singing with the Atlanta Master Chorale since 2006 when she relocated to Georgia from Indiana with her husband Chris.
