AUDITION TO SING WITH ATLANTA MASTER CHORALE

Want to sing with us? If you are passionate about choral music and looking for a challenging, satisfying choral experience, we would love to hear from you!

Auditions for the 2017-2018 season will be held on the first three Saturdays in August: August 5, 12, and 19.

Prospective choir members need not be professional musicians, but singers should possess an excellent choral “skill-set,” including good music-reading skills, nuanced phrasing, and precise intonation. Atlanta Master Chorale sings with a warm, tension-free tone, often without vibrato. Though our members come from different walks of life and have a wide variety of vocations, many are highly experienced singers and may be featured as soloists within the group.

Prospective members are encouraged to listen to excerpts of Atlanta Master Chorale in performance, which may be found at our You Tube channel: Click Here.

At your audition, you will be asked to vocalize and to sight-read a portion of a choral work. The sight-reading will be a cappella.

Additionally, we ask that you prepare in advance the following to sing at your audition:

1. One classical solo piece of your choosing : (oratorio, aria, or art song preferred) that demonstrates your best vocal qualities.
*Please bring music for our accompanist if you choose to sing a piece other than the following four encouraged audition solos.

  • Soprano: “Quia respexit” from Bach Magnificat (Download pdf)
  • Alto: “O Rest in the Lord” from Mendelssohn Elijah (Download pdf)
